PERSONAL NOTE

Hi all,

Last time I was getting ready to join my daughter's family in California at Legoland. It was the grandkids' first experience at a theme park and also my first time at Legoland. We all had lots of fun. The weather was perfect, sunny most of the day, but not too hot.

Watching the excitement on their little faces was fantastic.

When we got home, we were treated with 100+ degree weather. So, at the end of the month, we spent the week in Pinetop, AZ. It rained some every day, and we loved it.

I can't believe that it is already the end of July. I've been working on my new "Invest In Yourself" series.

With the warm, or for me, hot days of summer, we sometimes lose our motivation to stay on track with our routines. These might be slacking off on regular exercise or grabbing fast food instead of preparing a healthy meal.

It happens to all of us. The important thing to remember is that when you recognize that you are doing less or not feeling as energetic as before, you can take steps to regain your momentum and motivation.

These ebbs and flows in motivation are normal.

The good news is they are surmountable, so don’t throw in the towel just yet.

Here's an article with 5 Ways to Stay Self-Motivated After a Setback.

COOL RESOURCE

I found this great cookbook with 500 recipes to beat the heat. Especially when you don't want to be in a hot kitchen cooking.

The recipes for make-ahead meals that are easy to serve cold are something I hadn't tried in a while. And I discovered new recipes to cook in my pressure cooker, which I love because it saves me time and doesn't heat up my kitchen.
